About Me

Hello, and welcome to my humble little portfolio! I’m Zachary Tieu. The broad strokes of who am I and what I’m studying is just up there in big, bold text, so I won’t bore you with repetition. I’ll use this to instead highlight some of the fun facts and experiences who made me who I am today:

  • I’ve traveled around the world quite a bit! Lived in China for five years before returning to the US, during which I went all over Asia with family. Having had the chance to explore the world and see its vast diversity is one of the great blessings I’m most thankful for.
  • Like a lot of people in this field, I got into games young, starting off as a diehard Nintendo kid glued to an old DS. As the only in my family deeply into games though, I didn’t quite have the chance to really expand my horizons until I got back to the States, just in time for Season Three of League. From there, it was off to the races.
  • When I say I love games, I don’t just mean computer games. Board games, roleplaying games, and trading card games are also parts of the hobby I love. I’d probably also be a Wargaming fiend if I could spare the arm and leg needed to buy an army.
  • Some of my favorite things:
    • Board Game: Happy Little Dinosaurs by Unstable Games. Perfect example of easy to learn, difficult to master.
    • Card Game: Magic the Gathering. The depth of interaction and freedom of deckbuilding is unmatched, without devolving into the combo-based rocket tag gameplay of Yugioh.
    • Digital Card Game: Legends of Runeterra. Incredibly sleek presentation, amazing worldbuilding, and the champion-centric design makes for great deckbuilding and piloting experiences.
    • Video Game: Shadowrun Trilogy by Harebrained Schemes. 10/10 character writing, customization, and as any good CRPG should, great responsivity to character choices and character builds without getting too complex. Stellar mods.
    • Relaxation Game: League of Legends. Get friend. Queue ARAM. Have a blast.
    • Roleplaying Game: Lancer by Masif Press. Perfectly open and customizable setting, absurdly good lore, intensely creative mech concepts, and gameplay I will swear by.
